Charles Peterson, born in Lettland, worked as a pipe maker in the Meerschaum manufactory of Friedrich Kapp. After emigrating from Nuremberg, Germany he opened a tobacco boutique in Dublin’s Grafton Street. In 1890 Charles Peterson invented the Peterson Patented System, which brought world renown to the Irish manufacturer, later called Kapp & Peterson.
